Both brand ambassadors explore the fascinating world of complication watches
Over the past couple of months, Audemars Piguet welcomed two of its brand ambassadors based in Hollywood to its birthplace in Le Brassus, Switzerland: Indian actress Freida Pinto who was revealed in Slumdog Millionaire, followed by France’s favorite actor Omar Sy, lately seen in Inferno.
Experimenting the same harsh winter conditions that the Audemars Piguet founders lived in when they opened the Manufacture in the Swiss Jura mountains in 1875, the two international celebrities were immersed for the first time in the rich history of the brand. They discovered a wealth of world-first and complicated timepieces while touring the private museum and restoration workshop, where they were particularly impressed with the meticulously kept archives over the centuries.
Freida Pinto was amazed at the watchmakers’ passion and dedication when working on tiny components with such craftsmanship. The new Royal Oak Frosted Gold watches also caught her attention with their sparkling effect. Fresh from filming her next series Guerrilla, Freida had attended the product launch event in Florence earlier on, where she had the pleasure to meet with Florentine jewellery designer Carolina Bucci who collaborated with Audemars Piguet to create the Royal Oak Frosted Gold.
Omar Sy on the other hand, was particularly sensitive to the heritage of the brand and the fact that it is still owned and run by the founding families. He enjoyed trying on the novelties that were recently presented at the 2017 Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie in Geneva and spent a full hour successfully assembling a movement with unbelievable concentration and determination! Audemars Piguet is proud to count Freida Pinto and Omar Sy as part of its closely knit family of ambassadors since they perfectly embody the Manufacture’s philosophy “To break the rules, you must first master them”.
